Articles About Entertaiment

The word entertainment, derived from the Medieval Latin inter tenere (“to hold inside”), was originally associated with hospitality: keeping guests happy. But today it usually refers to amusement, and we think of theatrical entertainment as shows, visual entertainment as stuff you like to look at, and audio entertainment as mostly music.

Entertainment can take many forms, from a clown at a birthday party to a stadium rock concert, or the fight over the last potato chip. And the best entertainers know how to cross media and adapt their work for different audiences. This has created a huge industry that continues to evolve. 2011 Merriam-Webster. All rights reserved.
